Child abuse pediatricians continually pursue false allegations of child abuse when parents bring their children to emergency departments with concerns over legitimate injuries. Too many times, these children are subject to expensive and unnecessary testing (reimbursed by insurance companies) over the parents objection. Child abuse pediatricians are an unchecked source of income to these hospitals and blindly move forward when it is clear they are wrong. Providers inside the hospitals fear retaliation by the CAPs if they do not similarly line up to accuse. Child protection workers act like rubber stamps. Parents are no longer ashamed and are now appropriately seeking redress for the unforgivable trauma inflicted upon them and their children. Publicly sharing stories is what has made the difference.
