This story could be our story – an infection left too long undiagnosed with what may be irreparable damage. I will soon be asking you to join me in a campaign of awareness targeting the American Academy of Pediatrics to issue a bulletin to physicians recommending that they look for strep infections at the first sign of behaviors symptomatic of PANDAS – and that includes tics. We don’t need protocols and studies to hold this up any longer. We’ve been patient long enough. As my friend Richard Livingston MD wrote, “We don’t need to know everything to do something.”
