These New York doctors report a case of a 31-year-old female admitted with involuntary movements of the upper extremities of three weeks duration. Her movements start as twitching before progressing to one hand hitting the other or hitting her face.  After rules outs for various other possibilities, the patient’s blood work came back strongly positive for antistreptolysin O and antideoxyribonuclease B titers.

The only confusing part for me is why there is still any “controversy” about this.  Group A strep causes OCD and tic disorders.  This information has been available at least since 1995.  Are some doctors truly still wondering or is it all about egos?
